Spiritual Retreat History

A 2nd Chance is the dream of a handful of recovering alcoholics, who have watched traditional treatment centers become a revolving door. Their hopes are; that by sharing experience, strength and hope of how they got sober, A 2nd Chance Recovery Center will have a better success rate than traditional treatment centers. Besides, it has been proven, that nothing will so much insure continued, long-term sobriety, as intensive work with other alcoholics and addicts.

A 2nd Chance Recovery Center's sole purpose is to promote healing. Our staff believes in the innate dignity of every human person. Clients are cared for in a gentle, respectful manner and are provided a safe place for the healing process to begin.

Guests address their specific issues, whatever they may be: denial, frozen feelings, past abuses, post acute withdrawal, spirituality, unresolved grief, interpersonal relationships, sexuality, family of origin, daily living skills, and relapse avoidance.

In our Family Program, family members and friends are included so they may understand the behaviors associated with addiction. They too will learn how to solve problems, improve communications, care for themselves, and resolve the confusion and conflicts of the past through meetings led by our staff.

Here at A 2nd Chance Spiritual Retreat, our main goal and emphasis is on continued, long-term sobriety. Because of the revolving door effect at traditional treatment centers, A 2nd Chance Spiritual Retreat, will only allow a resident, if they relapse, to come back through our program one time only. We do not want to play a part in enabling anyone, but we do feel that everyone deserves A 2nd Chance.
